ABOUT THE AUTHOR

EN

Roma Kloss is a 20-something, first-time author who recently completed a young adult trilogy called Kitsune (the Japanese word for Fox). The first in the trilogy is Gods of Earth, followed by Gods of Hell and Gods of Heaven. Infused with Kloss's love of Japanese culture and in particular, Anime, the trilogy also carries the author's dark experiences with physical and emotional abuse, which have forced a wisdom and personal growth she never anticipated.Kloss was born and raised in Bratislava, Slovakia, and is currently learning English in the hopes of one day doing her own translations - which carry an astronomical cost in her home country and can take up to a year.

She began writing at the age of 15 without any formal training but with Slovak already being one of the world's most difficult languages to master and the country's school system being both stern and disciplined, Kloss's writing abilities simply began to flow. Her early influences came from her own life experiences and writing became a vital cathartic tool. With an alcoholic and abusive father together with being bullied in school and a few other traumatic events, Kloss found herself longing for a fantasy world of her own creation. While watching a particular Japanese Anime series, she saw a demon in the form of a fox and her imagination took over from there. Her inspiration now comes from wanting to make a difference in the lives of others, particularly those going through dark times.

Kloss has always gravitated toward books and/or stories that are dark in nature and she is now drawn into her fantasy worlds to experience the unknown - an atmosphere that is often dark and sad "because life is not just pink," she says.Elements of her own character come through in Grace, the main character in the trilogy. Kloss said she didn't do it intentionally but when you write about what you know, your own experiences and characteristics come through. Despite being a schooled professional baker (a highly disciplined career in Slovakia), Kloss aims to put out a book per year and eventually leave her job as a nurse's aid in the children's ward of a Bratislava hospital. She has no shortage of ideas and hopes to one day see her creations in film. And together with her dedicated team, it's only a matter of time.
